What is image based abuse?

Image based abuse refers to the non-consensual sharing of intimate images or videos of an individual without their consent. The perpetrator is often an ex-partner or someone known to the victim. This can involve the distribution of such content online,  or through social media. The intent is to harm, embarrass, or intimidate the individual depicted in the images.
