If you are going through a relationship breakdown, the Land Registry Property Alert service can help a non-owning spouse or partner keep track of any attempts to sell, change ownership, or remortgage a property or properties without their knowledge.

The Property Alert service is free to use and doesn’t require the property owner’s consent. A user can monitor up to 10 properties.

If any activity is detected by the Land Registry, an instant email alert is sent to the user’s registered email address.

It is important to note that the Property Alert is not a substitute for applying for a Home Rights Notice on the family home to protect the non-owner’s rights. A Notice should be applied for in addition to an alert.
