Are costs awarded in family law cases?

Since the end of April 2024, there have been changes to the rules relating to resolving financial and children matters. These rules state that failure to engage in methods of non-court dispute resolution without a valid reason will likely come with cost penalties. The aim of the rules is to relieve pressure on the courts by emphasising amicable dispute resolution.
