How does it work?
Financial negotiation and Separation Agreement package
Our aim is to provide you both with expert guidance, support, and information to enable you to reach a mutually agreeable Agreement.
This is how our process works and the stages:
Individual introductory meetings (Meetings 1 & 2)
These meeting are held with the each of you individually. The meetings are designed for the following:
- To check that our process and dealing with matters on a joint basis is the right option for you, and there is no significant risk of conflict between you.
- To identify your key issues, aims and objectives.
- Obtain details to prepare your Separation Agreement.
- Explain the process.
- Answer any questions you may have.
First joint meeting (Meeting 3)
This meeting is usually held shortly after the introductory meetings and is held with you both jointly. In this meeting we will share your key issues and objectives as identified in the previous individual meetings and answer any questions you may have.
We will also identify what information and documentation is required to complete full financial disclosure from the both of you, and we will provide you with a link to complete your financial disclosure.
Post disclosure negotiation meeting(s) (Meetings 4 & 5)
After full financial disclosure is provided by you both, we will prepare a joint Schedule of Assets and Liabilities.
In these joint meetings which will take place by telephone or video, we will discuss your financial situation, explore the options available to you to reach a mutual settlement, and review the advantages and disadvantages of each respective option with a view to finding a mutually acceptable solution.
If necessary and agreed, we could employ the services of a third party such as an Accountant or Financial Adviser to obtain further information. This is an additional cost and is not included in our fees.
It also may be agreed that a further joint meeting is required after obtaining any further information. This may not be appropriate or necessary in all cases.
Final Settlement meeting (meeting 6)
The aim of this meeting is to discuss the settlement reached and sign off the settlement.
We will already have prepared a draft Separation Agreement which we will explain to you and answer any questions you may have.
General information
Each individual or joint meeting will last for one hour and take place virtually either by telephone or video conference.
All meetings are entirely guided by your needs and designed to answer any specific questions you may have.
Outside of the meetings we will always be available to be contacted by email or telephone to offer support, guidance or information.
As you are jointly instructing us, we will ensure that all communications received from you are shared, transparent and open. The only exception to transparency and sharing is if a disclosure is made that a child or adult is at risk of significant harm.
